MONDAY SEPTEMBER 4

ANTIGUA GUATEMALA

Departure from the venue hotel to Antigua Guatemala, designated by the UNESCO as World Heritage Site in 1979. We are going to visit “El Cerro de la Cruz” where you can see the entire city in a panoramic view. Then we are going to visit the most representative places in Antigua as the Cathedral, the Central Plaza, The San Francisco Church, La Merced Church, the Street of the Arc and the Jade Museum.

We would take the lunch at Casa Santo Domingo Museum, which was one of the largest convents in America, preserving the treasures of the Baroque era of ancestral America.

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 5

LAKE OF ATITLÁN

Departure from the venue hotel to the Guatemalan highlands. Arriving to Panajachel, one of the 12 picturesque villages located at the majestic Lake of Atitlán, we are going to take a boat to cross the lake and visit the village Tzutuhil of San Juan Atitlán. There, we will have a cultural tour visiting the different workshops where we can discover how a women’s cooperative following the traditional method of dyeing can thread with native plants.

Later we will return to Panajachel to have lunch at the hotel porta del lago. We will continue with a view to Santander Street of Panajachel and the artisan market of this city.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 6

GUATEMALA CITY

Departure from the venue hotel to the center of Guatemala City. We are going to visit the National Palace, built in concrete and with stone-clad brick turned with a green color, which contains the murals of the artist Alfredo Galvez Suárez, that show a historical review of the country from the colonial times to independence. We will continue the tour by the Metropolitan Cathedral, Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Guatemala, and visit the Civic Center and Las Américas Avenue.

We would take the lunch at the Paseo Cayalá, A neo-urbanist city of 14 hectares within the city of Guatemala.

Finally, we will visit the Ixchel museum, where a documentary about the textile production of Guatemala will be screened and where we will have the opportunity to observe the different exhibitions that exhibit the indigenous Mayan traditions of the country.
